Impressive numbers that defined Cal Ripken, Jr.s career include: 2,632 (consecutive games played); 3,184 (career hits) and 21 (seasons with the Orioles). The number of autographs he delivered cannot be accurately pinpointed, but here are (4) of them! Executed on Louisville Slugger promotional bats turned to the specifications of the weapons wielded by Cal, these autographs project (9) potency. One of the bats is signed by Cal, Jr., Cal, Sr. and Billy Ripken (full JSA). Also included is an unsigned signature model bat. Individual certs/stickers from JSA.
NOTE: While these professional/promotional model bats do exhibit evidence of use (i.e. ball, bat-rack, cleat, stitch marks and transposed stampings from assorted baseballs), the use is NOT attributed to Major League play. Additionally, the JSA certs/stickers are for the autographs only.
1986-1989 Louisville Slugger a P72 uncracked signature model (31.6-oz/35) signed on the barrel by Cal Ripken, Sr., Cal Ripken, Jr. and Billy Ripken; Full photo LOA from JSA (for autographs)
1986-1989 Louisville Slugger a P72 uncracked signature model (33.4-oz/35) with a glossy black Smith finish and silver-colored trademark stampings. Ripken has signed between the center brand and barrel stampings in silver marker. The knob is home to a silver marker notation of 8. This is most definitely a retail model bat, as evidenced by the characteristics of the center brand.
1986-1989 Louisville Slugger a C300 signature model (29.4-oz/35) signed on the barrel by Cal Ripken, Jr. The handle is home to a 2 crack and 8 is inscribed on the knob, partially obscuring an earlier numeric identifier. Of note is that Ripkens records at Louisville Slugger do not show any orders or shipments of C300 models, suggesting that this bat was turned in a promotional capacity.
1990 Louisville Slugger a P72 uncracked signature model (35.4-oz/35) signed by Ripken between the center brand and barrel stampings. Ripkens number 8 is inscribed on both the knob and barrel end.
1991-1997 Louisville Slugger a P72 uncracked signature model (31.2-oz/34) with a deep brown patina and gold-colored trademark stampings. This bat is unsigned.
