Dubbed “the Jackie Robinson of hockey,” former right winger Willie O’Ree broke the NHL’s color barrier in a brave endeavor. These (2) 1964 Los Angeles Blades programs feature photos and biographical text portraying the hockey pioneer. Issued at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, the WHL (Western Hockey League) publications include:

Blades vs. Toronto Maple Leafs 12-page exhibition program with all elements intact; presents (EX)

Blades vs. San Francisco Seals Lester Patrick Cup Playoff Program a 16-page guide with covers/pages intact (presents EX). The guide is signed on the cover by Marcel Paille and on the appropriate player profile entries by: Len Haley, Paul Jackson, Eddie Panagabko, Bob Perreault and Bob Solinger. All autographs are in blue ballpoint and average (“8-9”) strength.
