Description

Strike! Roll a perfect game with Babe Ruth on this signed 8x10 sepia photograph depicting "The Bambino" bowling with former Indians hurler, and "Pride of the Yankees" actor, Jack Salveson. Inscribed with a black steel-tip fountain pen, the circa 1940s picture displays extensive creasing, surface crazing and reverse writing. Despite those flaws, the precisely placed script of Ruth still registers ("7-8") penmanship. Even following retirement from the big leagues and into the war years, Ruth was still a "man about the town" as this interesting portrayal confirms. Full photo LOA from JSA. More on our website.

Accompanying this group is a signed dinner photograph of (5) 1943 Cleveland Indians, and Salveson's teammates Pete Center, Mel Harder, Joe Heving, Ken Keltner and Mickey Rocco. Displays a combination of wear but serves to help date Ruth's signature. No cert on these signatures.
